Οι σειρές «Severance», «The Penguin», «The Studio» και «The White Lotus» σάρωσαν στις υποψηφιότητες των φετινών βραβείων Emmy, συγκεντρώνοντας 27, 24 και από 23 αντίστοιχα.

Οι επιτυχίες του Apple TV+, «Severance» και «The Studio», ηγήθηκαν των υποψηφιοτήτων σε δραματικές και κωμικές σειρές αντίστοιχα.

Το HBO Max, από την άλλη, βρέθηκε στην κορυφή του συνολικού αριθμού υποψηφιοτήτων με 142 – χάρη σε σειρές όπως το «The Penguin» (που ηγήθηκε στην κατηγορία μίνι σειρών), το «The White Lotus», το «The Last of Us» και το «Hacks». Αυτό αποτελεί βελτίωση του προηγούμενου ρεκόρ του καναλιού, που ήταν 140 υποψηφιότητες το 2022.

Ωστόσο, το «Severance» με 27 υποψηφιότητες και το «The Studio» με 23 ήταν αδιαμφισβήτητα εντυπωσιακά. Ιδιαίτερα το «The Studio» κατέχει πλέον το ρεκόρ περισσότερων υποψηφιοτήτων για κωμική σειρά μέσα σε ένα έτος – ισοφαρίζοντας την 3η σεζόν του «The Bear», που επίσης είχε 23 υποψηφιότητες το 2024 (και κέρδισε 11, ρεκόρ για τα περισσότερα βραβεία Primetime Emmy για κωμική σειρά σε μία χρονιά).

Οι σειρές του HBO Max το επαναφέρουν στην κορυφή, θέση στην οποία έχει βρεθεί αρκετές φορές τις τελευταίες δύο δεκαετίες. Τα τελευταία χρόνια, ανταγωνίζεται με το Netflix (που ηγήθηκε το 2024) για την πρωτοκαθεδρία. Το Netflix διατηρεί ακόμη το ρεκόρ περισσότερων υποψηφιοτήτων όλων των εποχών για δίκτυο/πλατφόρμα (160 το 2020) και ισοβαθμεί στο ρεκόρ περισσότερων νικών (44 το 2021, όσες και το CBS το 1974).

Από την πλευρά των ηθοποιών, ιστορία έγραψε την Τρίτη η Κάθι Μπέιτς (Kathy Bates) του «Matlock», η οποία στα 77 της έγινε η γηραιότερη γυναίκα που λαμβάνει υποψηφιότητα στην κατηγορία Α’ Γυναικείου Ρόλου σε Δραματική Σειρά.

Παράλληλα, ο πρωταγωνιστής του «Adolescence», Όουεν Κούπερ (Owen Cooper), έγραψε κι αυτός ιστορία, καθώς έγινε ένας από τους νεότερους υποψηφίους που έχουν προταθεί ποτέ από την Αμερικανική Ακαδημία Τηλεόρασης. Ο 15χρονος βρετανός ηθοποιός απέσπασε υποψηφιότητα για Β’ Ανδρικό Ρόλο σε μίνι σειρά ή τηλεταινία. Εάν καταφέρει να κερδίσει, ο Κούπερ θα γίνει ο νεότερος άνδρας που έχει κερδίσει ποτέ Emmy ερμηνείας, ξεπερνώντας όλους τους προηγούμενους νικητές στη συγκεκριμένη ηλικιακή κατηγορία.

Τα 77α Βραβεία Emmy θα παρουσιαστούν από τον κωμικό Νέιτ Μπαργκάτσε (Nate Bargatze) και θα μεταδοθούν ζωντανά την Κυριακή 14 Σεπτεμβρίου από το CBS.
